Our journey

We fly Qatar Airways from Birmingham at 14.10 tomorrow and arrive after a 14 hour journey at 09.40 on Wednesday morning. We have packed and unpacked, then packed again. Graham has to take all his motorbike gear, and those size 11 boots take up a lot of room! We are allowed 30kgs each which is more than enough, but it’s very tempting to take too much. We have been asked to take children’s knickers and stickers, so these are taking up quite a bit of space, and we also have some gifts for our homestay hosts in Fort Kochi (Cochin). I plan to shop for some clothes when I get there, probably at fabindia   but I expect I will find lots of other places too! What are we up to now?

Graham and I are off to India with Adventure Ashram  a small but mighty charity driven by a spirit of adventure to directly support vital health and education grassroots projects in India. Graham will be riding a Royal Enfield motor bike with 39 other bikers, whilst I will be following in a comfy air conditioned chauffeur driven Toyota. This is all organised by Nomadic Knights who are experts on these sorts of trips so we are in safe hands.  Our route takes us from Kochi to Goa starting on 4th November but we are going out a couple of days early to stay in Fort Kochi. One of the projects Adventure Ashram support is Odanadi  where our son Tom volunteered for a year in 2010, and we are looking forward to visiting Odanadi again on this trip as well as some of the other projects.
